What's pulling people to Fear this Halloween isn't the 2015 original. It's Inside Out 2, and specifically the Emotion that *didn't* dominate 2024.
Anxiety stole the breakout slot last year; Fear is the quieter pick for 2026, the kindred spirit for anyone who'd rather watch the room than command it.
The buying decision comes down to whether you want the full sculpted kit or the lavender-purple dress alternative.
Five-piece kit in three cuts. Shirt, vest, bow tie, hood, and gloves; HalloweenCostumes.com sells kids' for $79.99, men's for $89.99, and plus for $99.99.

Walmart is the cheapest way into a Fear costume ($48.18–$60.25 for the Disguise kit, size up) and also stocks the HalloweenCostumes.com 5-piece ($69.99–$79.99).
Skip the kit entirely with DOShopPR's women's dress, $78.95–$91.95 depending on size (2XS–6X). Handcrafted in Puerto Rico and shipped from North Carolina in 7–10 days.
Fear's full body is the same lavender-purple as the kit; the hood and gloves cover the head and hands, but the neck and ankles give the costume away. Water-activated face/body paint in a matching lilac (find it in the cake-makeup section at any costume retailer) does the gap coverage in five minutes when you apply it before dressing and dust with translucent powder. Skip this entirely if you're going with the DOShopPR dress; the gangly Fear silhouette comes from the platform shoes and wig in that build, not from skin coverage.
Per-retailer reviews
HalloweenCostumes.com — the full review
HalloweenCostumes.com sells the only five-piece kit in the mix: shirt, vest, bow tie, hood, and gloves, sized for kids ($79.99), men’s ($89.99), and plus ($99.99).
The sculpted hood does the work the dress alternatives leave you to paint: embroidered eyes, sewn-on eyebrows, posable antennae for the gangly-purple face. Fabric varies by component: a cotton shirt, an acrylic-cotton knit vest, and a minky hood and gloves.
