When to order Halloween costumes (2026)
To wear your costume on Halloween night, it has to arrive by Friday, October 30 — the day before, so a wrong size is still fixable. Every store has a different last-safe day to order. Here's each one, with a buffer built in so you're ordering a touch early on purpose.

Every date here counts back from Halloween night. If your first time in costume is earlier — a school parade, an office party, a party the weekend before — count back from that day instead. When Halloween falls on a weekend, the last school day and the last workday both come before it.
The shipping speed a store advertises starts when your order leaves the warehouse, not when you place it. Stores take a day or more to pick and pack first, and where a store sells through outside sellers, each seller sets its own pace. The dates here already count that handling time. That’s why a few of them land earlier than a store’s own shipping page would suggest.
Order early in the day. A late-night order often counts as the next business day. Every date here assumes a morning order.

Already past every date?
You are not out of options, you are out of free ones. Paid express runs later than anything on this calendar. HalloweenCostumes.com sells a one-business-day Premium tier with a 1pm CST cutoff, and a Saturday tier you can order from Thursday 1pm through Friday 1pm CST. Most other stores sell something comparable; the tiers and cutoffs differ, so read them at checkout.
A costume arriving on Halloween itself is cutting it fine. Delivery runs to about 8pm and trick-or-treat starts around 6. That works for an evening party and not for a school parade.

How we set these dates
These are conservative estimates, not store-published cutoffs. Most stores don’t post their real Halloween order-by dates until September, so we built each one from the store’s standard shipping and handling, counted back from October 30, then added about two business days of buffer (more for the October-surge specialists). The error runs in your favor: the worst case is you ordered a little early.
We re-check these against each store’s live cutoff pages in season, around September, and send the confirmed dates to everyone on the list.
